１９６１年福岡生まれ

セツモードセミナーでファインアート、筑波大学芸術専門学群で建築デザインを学ぶ。

学生時代よりファッションデザイナーとして活動。

１９８３年に株式会社ジュンより”C.C.”ブランドをローンチ。

１９８４年デザイン事務所「チトセ　スタジオ」設立

同年株式会社エルカ販売より「Alpha Guire」をローンチ、株式会社ブルーベルサカタよりシューズブランド「Prefere」をローンチ。以降フリーランスのデザイナーとしてJUN EX、イッセイ・ミヤケ、ハナエモリ・インターナショナル、やまもと寛斎等、東京、パリ、ニューヨークのコレクション参加メゾン数社にアクセサリー（靴、バッグなど皮革とゴム製品等）のデザイン提供、コレクションサンプルの製作を行う。３ヶ月で市場での寿命を迎えるファッションビジネスに疑問を感じ、映画のプロモーション、ファインアートの製作、音楽活動、建築と模索を続けるうち、徐々に仕事を建築デザインへとシフトしていき建築分野では「INTERSCALE INC」の屋号を使い始める。

１９８８年より設計事務所に入社。主にフランス人建築家Jean-Michel Wilmotteのデザイン提携業務とフランス企業の日本進出に際しての店舗開発を担当。

１９９３年東京　南麻布でインタースケール有限会社を設立。屋号を「インタースケール建築設計事務所」とする。代表取締役に就任。

一般社団法人　日本建築学会正会員。この頃よりドイツの哲学者マルティン・ハイデガーに傾倒し、恩師である長澤節先生の教えに背きアンチアカデミックからアカデミックへと傾倒していく。「実存する空間と実存していた空間の差異」をテーマにランドスケープ、建築、インテリア、家具デザインの各分野で活動する。「第１回フランス映画祭横浜’９３」の会場構成を皮切りに多くのフランス企業等の商業建築を手掛ける。また、１９９４年 「我は”泉”に立つ 島剛展」、「未来の記憶 イスラエル現代美術展」 のライティングデザインを担当した縁で佐賀町エキジビット・スペースの小池一子氏、イスラエルのBelu-Simion Fainaru氏、Dani Karavan氏、Gil Percal氏らと知り合い、現代美術について多くを学ぶ。１９９６年　佐賀町エキジビット・スペースにおける「ダニ・カラヴァン展　空　水はそこに」ではライティングデザインとテクニカルコンサルタントを担当した。

１９９９年　パリに移転。建築家Gil Percal氏とのパートナーシップのもと、Dani Karavan氏のプロジェクトの３DCGとドローイング、数多くの住宅のプロジェクト、アーティスト（Raffi Kaizer, Tobias Trutwin, Francine Frandrin等）とのコラボレーションを行う。

２００１年９月１１日　アメリカで同時多発テロ事件が起きる。

２００２年　日本に帰国。池袋に事務所を構える。商業建築、マンションなどを多く手がける。

２０１２年から外注に頼らず自己完結したクリエーションを目指し平面作品と立体の皮革製品をハンドソーンで造り始める。

２０１４年　中野に移転。

２０２１年　東京　立川市に移転。彫刻作品を造り始める。

About Hiroshi Chitose

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1961.

He studied fine art at Setsu Mode Seminar and architectural design at the School of Art and Design, University of Tsukuba.

He began working as a fashion designer in Tokyo while still a student.

In 1983, he launched the "C.C." brand with JUN Co., Ltd.

In 1984, he founded his own design office, "Chitose Studio," in Minami-Azabu, Tokyo.

In the same year, he launched "Alpha Guire" with Elka Co., Ltd. and the shoe brand "Prefere" with Blue Bell Sakata Co., Ltd.

Thereafter, as a freelance designer, he designed accessories (shoes, bags, and other leather and rubber goods) and produced collection samples and products for several houses showing at the Tokyo, Paris, and New York collections, including JUN EX, Issey Miyake, Hanae Mori International, and Kansai Yamamoto.

Growing skeptical of a fashion business in which products last only three months on the market, he explored film promotion, fine art, music, and architecture, gradually shifting his work toward architectural design and beginning to use the name "Interscale Inc." in that field.

In 1988, he joined an architectural design office, mainly handling design collaboration with the French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and store development for French companies entering Japan.

In 1993, he founded Interscale Inc. in Minami-Azabu, Tokyo, under the trade name "Interscale Architects & Associates," and became its Representative Director.

Member of the Architectural Institute of Japan.

Around this time, he became deeply absorbed in the philosophy of Martin Heidegger and, departing from the teachings of his mentor Setsu Nagasawa, turned from an anti-academic to an academic stance.

Under the theme of "the difference between the space that exists and the space that once existed," he works across landscape, architecture, interior, and furniture design. Beginning with the venue design for the 1st French Film Festival Yokohama '93, he has designed commercial projects for many French companies.

In 1994, through his lighting design for the exhibitions "Tsuyoshi Shima: Standing by the Fountain" and "Memories of the Future: Contemporary Art from Israel" at the Sagacho Exhibit Space, he came to know Kazuko Koike, director of the Sagacho Exhibit Space, and the Israeli artists Belu-Simion Fainaru, Dani Karavan, and Gil Percal, among others, and learned a great deal about contemporary art. In 1996, he handled lighting design and technical consulting for "Dani Karavan: Sky, Water, There" at the Sagacho Exhibit Space.

In December 1999, he moved to Paris on his own. In partnership with the architect Gil Percal, he produced 3D CG and drawings for Dani Karavan's projects, worked on numerous residential projects, and collaborated with artists including Raffi Kaizer, Tobias Trutwin, and Francine Frandrin, providing technical consulting.

On September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks struck the United States.

In 2002, he returned to Japan and reopened Interscale Architects & Associates in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, designing many boutiques, commercial buildings, and condominiums.

From around 2012, aiming for self-contained creation without relying on outsourcing, he began producing two-dimensional artworks and, at the same time, hand-sewn three-dimensional leather goods.

In 2014, he moved to Nakano, Tokyo.

In 2021, he moved to Tachikawa, Tokyo, changed the trade name to "Interscale Inc.," and began making sculpture.
