CONCEPT
コンセプト ４つのファクター
空間のヴォリュームを決定づけるファクターとして常に念頭に置くべきものとして次の４つのものがある。
土地の記憶
プロジェクトの提示を受けると必ずその土地の記憶を探究する。
その土地の存在と時間。
かつてこの土地は何であったか？
どのような時を経て来たのか？
そして今そこに何を創造するべきか？
そしてその実存していた空間と実存する空間の差異を表象する。
光と闇（表象的空間）
これは空間のヴォリュームを決定づける最大要素であり
光は空間の意思でありその運命を決定づける重要な要素である、闇は空間の非意思であり、ア プリオリにそこに存在する環境である。従って、その意図された光は闇が存在する事によってはじめてその意思を明確にする事が出来るのである。
水平線と垂直線（幾何学的空間）
連続する水平線は空間に安定感を与え
屹立する垂直線は空間に緊張感を与えうるものである。
空間を構成する素材について（幾何学的空間）
～生命感を持つ素材「バイオフィリア」～
天然石、金属、ガラス、木 etc
人の手の触れる部分においては特別な意図を
除いて自然素材を用いる。
素材は工業製品としてありきたりに使うのではなく、
それらの素材は切り裂かれ、彫られ、研がれ、磨かれて
新たなる生命が吹き込まれ存在する空間に智を与えるのである。
それらの素材は有機的であるが故に時間の経過とともに変化し更に美しくなってゆく。
隠されていたものの様々な表情を引き出し、
私達の深層心理に潜む自然への記憶を呼び覚ますことによって、
心地よい空間を構成する。
The Volume of Space: Four Factors
There are four factors I always keep in mind, as they determine the volume of a space.
Memory of the Land
Whenever I receive a project, I first explore the memory of the land — its existence and its time. What was this land in the past? What passage of time has it lived through? And what should be created there now? I then represent the difference between the space that once existed and the space that exists.
Light and Darkness (representational space)
This is the single most important factor in determining the volume of a space.
Light is the will of a space and the decisive element that determines its fate; darkness is the non-will of a space, the environment that exists there a priori. Intended light can therefore be revealed only through the presence of darkness.
Horizontal and vertical lines (geometric space)
A continuous horizontal line gives a space stability.
An upright vertical line can give a space tension.
Materials That Make Up the Space (geometric space)
~ Materials with a Sense of Life: “Biophilia” ~
Natural stone, metal, glass, wood, etc.
Except where there is a specific intention, natural materials are used wherever people touch the space.
Rather than being used as ordinary industrial products,
these materials are split, carved, honed, and polished;
breathed with new life, they lend wisdom to the space they inhabit.
Because they are organic, they change over time and grow ever more beautiful.
They draw out the many hidden expressions of things
and, by awakening the memory of nature buried deep in our psyche,
create a space of comfort.
